Track A Syllabus

How Junior Robotics Progresses

This pathway follows the early Sparklebots foundation sequence so students move from hands-on mechanics into visual coding before stepping up to more advanced robotics tracks later.

Course 01

RoboCHAMP

The foundation course for young learners. Students explore simple machines, structural assembly, gears, pulleys, balance, and mechanical creativity through a non-programmable robotics kit. This is where engineering intuition begins.

Classes 4-6 24 Hours No Coding
Course 02

Scratch Programming

Students then learn visual block coding through animations, stories, and games. It introduces loops, events, variables, conditions, and logical problem-solving before they ever touch text-based programming.

Classes 4-7 24 Hours MIT Scratch
Course 03

Advanced RoboCHAMP

After basic RoboCHAMP, students move into motorized mechanical systems. They begin building more complex motion-driven robots, learn drive mechanisms, and take on teamwork and design challenges that bridge them toward programmable robotics.

Ready for Track B Progression

Once students are confident with RoboCHAMP and Scratch-style logic, they are ready to move into the next pathway where programmable robotics, electronics, sensors, mobile control, and more advanced robot builds begin in earnest.

Projects & Models

What Students Build in Track A

The junior path is highly hands-on. Students continuously build named mechanical models and develop an intuitive feel for structure, movement, balance, and creative engineering.

RoboCHAMP Models

Mechanical Builds

  • Rider, Windmill, Speedster, Fanbot and Roller Bike.
  • Sycon Car, 4 Wheel Drive, Roto Racer and F1 Car.
  • Tractor, Crane, Bike and Humanoid.
Skill Outcomes

What Junior Learners Gain

  • Understanding of gears, levers, pulleys, wheels, axles and linkages.
  • Confidence in assembling structures and troubleshooting model stability.
  • Visual coding logic through Scratch-based stories, loops, conditions and events.

What You'll Learn

A progressive curriculum that builds real engineering intuition from day one.

01

Gears & Mechanisms

Foundation

Understand how gears, levers, pulleys, and linkages work together. Learn the mechanical principles behind every robot through hands-on assembly and experimentation.

02

AI Basics

Intelligence

Discover how artificial intelligence works at a fundamental level. Explore how machines see, hear, and make decisions โ€” explained through fun activities and visual experiments kids can relate to.

03

Robochamp โ€” Your First Robot

Build

Build your very first working robot using plug-and-play components. Robochamp teaches assembly, wiring, and basic control โ€” the thrill of seeing something you built come alive.

10+ Robot Models

Mastery

Go beyond your first robot and build over 10 different models โ€” each progressively more complex. From line followers to obstacle avoiders, every model teaches a new engineering concept.
